A show of new paintings by Key West Art Center & Gallery member, Linda Cabrera will open with a festive reception on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 5 - 8 p.m. Linda will be joined by her special guest, poet J.M. Varela, for "Cabrera & Varela -- Historic Art & Poetry” celebrating two talented Conch women whose artistic and poetic renderings of Key West remind us of the way we were. It's a must see for locals and newcomers interested in the images and stories that have faded from view but not our memories.
The art exhibit features Linda’s original painting for the cover of “Inside the Head of a Conch Woman” Varela’s recently published book of poems recalling idyllic Key West days gone by. J.M. Varela otherwise known to her friends as Jean Gregory, writes under her maiden name to honor her Cuban-American and Key West heritage. In a Solares Hill book review, C.S.
