Artist's Description

The first Sand Key Lighthouse was built on a sandy shoal about 7 miles to the southwest of Key West in 1827. It lied between Sand Key Channel and Rock Key Channel, two of the channels into Key West, on a reef intermittently covered by sand. It would last about 19 years until it was destroyed by a hurricane in October of 1846. From what I have read, this was supposed to have been a monstrous storm.

I strive to add energy to my paintings by including people, animals, birds, that are all a part of my Conch upbringing.
